Host's were Paraparaumu, with the clubs each winning 1 game each and both accumulating 40 hoops each so the challenge resulted in a draw - both clubs sharing the Shield for the season.

Donated by Mr A.C. Dawkins, Paraparaumu To be played for annually at alternative clubs, all games played on the one day. Championship matches, 3 hour, Regulation 9. 4 teams (8 players) 2 x A grade (0 - 3.5 bisque's) : 2 x Intermediate grade (4 - 9): 2 x B grade (10 - 16): 2 x C grade (18 - 24) Doubles in the morning (start 9.30am) Singles in the afternoon (start 1.15pm) Club captains to finalise playing rules, depending on availability of graded players, no less than one week prior to the scheduled event. (If players become unavailable for any grade, club captains to agree to substitute grades prior to the date of the match. Visiting club to submit teams no less than 1 week prior. Winner is determined by the most wins or if equal games then most points.
Rules can be adapted by the captains depending on availability of players.

However, an enjoyable afternoon was had by both teams with Mac and John R playing Dennis and Yvonne resulting in a narrow win to John and Mac 19-18 and Bob and Paulette played Steph and Angela with the waikanae duo waltzing away to a 12-6 hoop win. With Steph taking charge in the latter part of the game with a good 6 hoop break, and maintain a handsome lead to the bell.
