Paraparaumu GC players took part in the Park Croquet Club Hawera, Labour weekend Centenary Tournament, Brian Bullen 4th and Nathan Winner of the Plate final. Congratulations to you both.
After two days of intense competition, the Open Singles in our (Park Croquet Club Hawera), Labour Weekend Centenary Tournament, sponsored by Sports Turf Renovators 2007 Ltd, ended with Josh Smith, from Rose Gardens Croquet Club in Palmerston North, walking away with the $100 prize money. Josh beat fellow RGCC, and former PCC player, Joel Steele, in an enthralling best of three final, 7-6 7-5. Earlier in the day, the best of three semi-finals were also fiercely contested battles, both going to three games. With Josh beating PCC member, Te Kiri King, and Joel beating Brian Bullen from Paraparaumu CC to make the final, this left a play-off for 3rd and 4th which resulted in Te Kiri beating Brian in another tight battle, 10-9. Overall results from the two days were: 1st: Josh Smith 2nd: Joel Steele 3rd: Te Kiri King 4th: Brian Bullen Thanks also to Countdown Hawera for their generous support of vouchers and bottles of wine. These were great consolation prizes for 4th place which went to Brian Bullen, and Plate Final Winner, Nathan Bullen from Paraparaumu Croquet Club. (Yaye way to go Brian & Nathan) !!!
